ABOUT THE PROJECT
The ability to attract investment in our region is strongly connected to the success of our existing businesses. When businesses succeed, so does the County, and we are truly grateful for the businesses that have chosen to call Leduc County home. With this in mind, Leduc County is taking action to identify and meet the needs of the businesses in our community with the support of Deloitte Canada.
Our Business Retention and Expansion Survey gathered input on the future plans and needs of local businesses, as well as how business owners and operators view the community as a place to do business. In turn, the information from the survey will be used to plan future economic development activities.
The survey results will identify the opportunities and challenges that our local business community may be facing. Challenges could include concerns over relocation, closure, and/or downsizing, while opportunities may include plans for future expansion and recruitment.
Federal funding for the survey is being provided by PrairiesCan as part of the Government of Canada’s Canada Coal Transition Initiative. This initiative supports skills development and economic diversification activities to help workers and communities adapt to Canada's transition from coal mining and coal-fired power generation to a clean growth economy with reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
WHAT WE HEARD
We invited business owners and operators to participate in the survey either online or over the phone between Aug. 12 and Sept. 23, 2022. To access the online survey, each business was given a unique web address for tracking purposes.
Thank you to all of the businesses who participated in the survey.
