Application to rename road Naming of unnamed street to Dennis Levasseur Street
Leduc County has received a request to name a currently unnamed roadway in New Sarepta as Dennis Levasseur Street, in recognition of Mr. Dennis Levasseur’s contributions to the community.
The unnamed roadway is located between Centre Street and the New Sarepta Demolition Derby grounds (see map below). The roadway provides access for residents and visitors to the New Sarepta Demolition Derby site. Mr. Levasseur has played a pivotal role in organizing and sustaining the annual New Sarepta Demolition Derby, an event that has become both a significant community celebration and an important local fundraiser within New Sarepta.
Pursuant to Leduc County Municipal Policy MS-10 – Road Naming, and the Municipal Government Act, RSA 2000, upon receipt of a written request or petition from area residents, Leduc County Council may, at its discretion, name local roads under circumstances including:
- County Main Roads,
- Roadway passing by a former rural school site,
- Roadway passing by a site or former site recognized to have historical significance of a local or regional nature.
Names for roadways meeting the above criteria are determined at the discretion of Council, taking into consideration submitted suggestions and applicable policy requirements.
